CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball opened the 2025-26 season with a 53-46 win over New Haven at Cintas Center on Tuesday night.
The Musketeers continue their five-game homestand vs Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, Nov. 7. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

NOTABLES
- Xavier opened the game on a 5-1 run and led by as many as nine points (16-7) with 24 seconds on the clock. New Haven knocked down a three pointer as time expired in the first quarter, closing within six points (16-10).
- The Musketeers outscored the Chargers, 12-2, to open the second quarter - taking its largest lead of the half, 28-12, with 3:35 left in the half. Xavier outscored New Haven, 17-8, in the second quarter to take a 15-point advantage (33-18) into the locker room.
- Mariyah Noel had 10 points and four rebounds at the break.
- New Haven scored six unanswered points to open the second half, closing within six points (33-27) and forcing a Xavier timeout. The Musketeers responded by going ahead by 15 points (42-27) with just over two minutes left in the third quarter. New Haven made a basket in the closing seconds of the quarter to cut its deficit to 13 points (42-29).
- Xavier took its largest lead of the contest, 53-35, with 3:06 left in regulation. New Haven battled back to outscore Xavier, 11-0, to close the game for the final 53-46 ledger.
- Mariyah Noel scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds (both career highs). She added two assists and one block.
- Savannah White added 11 points, five blocks, four steals and five assists.
- Vivien Nejašmić finished with eight points and three rebounds. Audia Young had five points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal.
- Meri Kanerva recorded five steals and four points.
- Xavier finished the game with a .346 field-goal percentage (18-for-52) and went 1-for-14 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 16-for-18 from the foul line.
- New Haven was limited to a .333 field-goal percentage (18-for-54) and went 6-for-25 from three-point range. The Chargers were 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
- Xavier held a 25-11 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored eight more bench points (20-12). New Haven won the battle on the glass, 39-32, and scored four more second-chance points (10-6) than Xavier.
- Xavie led for 38:17 in the game.
