Women's Soccer Wins 2025 BIG EAST Championship

No. 22 Musketeers top No. 10 Georgetown, 2-0, to win title and clinch bid to the NCAA Championship
BOYDS, Md. - No. 22 Xavier women's soccer claimed the 2025 BIG EAST Championship title with a 2-0 win over No. 10 Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The title is the Musketeers' second conference tournament title since joining the BIG EAST.
Xavier took the 1-0 lead early, after Samantha Erbach connected on a PK in the 10th minute, her 18th goal of the season, following a Hoya handball in the box. Each team had four shots overall and three looks on frame in the first half. Maria Galley collected all three shots on-goal for saves to send the Musketeers into the locker room with a 1-0 lead. Erbach had three shots in the first half, all on-goal.
In the second half, the Hoyas had a 7-3 advantage on shots going into the final 12Â minutes. Xavier's fourth shot of the period found the back fo the net, with Regan Dancer scoring her second of the tournament, to give Xavier a 2-0 lead going into the final 10 minutes.
After Xavier took a two-goal advantage, the Hoyas created to more chances, but Maria Galley collected all nine Georgetown shots on-goal for the day, matching her career high with nine saves to keep the shutout intact.
Following the match Samantha Erbach, Elizabeth Powell, Regan Dancer and Emma Flick were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Erbach earning Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Powell picking up Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
The Musketeers earn an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Championships, and will learn their draw on Monday, Nov. 10, during the Selection Show, aired on NCAA.com.

79' | XAVIER | Elizabeth Powell served the ball into the box, going to Regan Dancer in front of the net. After Dancer's first shot was saved, she found the ball off the rebound and shot past the GU goalkeeper on the ground for the 2-0 lead.
- Samantha Erbach now has 18Â goals for the season, the second most goals in a single season in program history. Combined with her NCAA leading 14 assists, she has 50 points, the second most in single season in program history and the most in NCAA DI as of 11/9. Her goal was her third game winner and gave her four goals for the tournament.
- Regan Dancer's second half goal was her fifth of the season, combining with 10 assists for 15 points for the year. She had a pair of goals during the tournament.
- Xavier now has a school-record 68 goals, breaking the previous record of 67 set in 1984, the inaugural year fo the program. The Musketeers' school-record point total now stands at 201.
- Maria Galley made the start in-goal, playing the full 90 minutes and matching her career high with nine saves, picking up her seventh complete shutout of the season.
- Natalie Bain and  Elizabeth Powell played the full 90 minutes on the Musketeer backline, helping Xavier to its 11th clean sheet of the year.
- Xavier's 2-0 win ended an 11-match win streak for Georgetown and is the first time the Hoyas have been shutout since facing St. Mary's on 9/14.
- This is Xavier's second BIG EAST Championship title, also winning the tournament in 2019. The Musketeers have four conference tournament titles total, including the 1998 and 2000 Atlantic 10 titles.
- The Musketeers will make the program's seventh NCAA appearance (1998, 2000, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023) after earning the league's automatic bid.
