CINCINNATI - MacKenzie Givens posted her first career double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds) on Tuesday night, leading the Musketeers to a 64-57 win over Long Island at Cintas Center.

Xavier improves to 7-3 on the the year, while the Sharks drop to 4-5.

The Musketeers close out non-conference action on Sunday, Dec. 14 vs Saint Francis. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

NOTABLES

Long Island led 12-5 after one quarter of action before the Musketeers outscored the Sharks, 24-8, in the second frame - taking a nine-point advantage (29-20) into the locker room. Xavier went 9-for-14 (.643) from the floor in the second quarter.
Xavier led by as many as 13 points (54-41) with 7:33 left in regulation. Long Island closed the game on a 16-10 run with 12 points coming from Solangelei Akridge to make the final score, 64-57.
The game only featured one lead change. Xavier led for 24:02 in the game, while the Sharks led by 14:21.
MacKenzie Givens posted her first career double-double, scoring a team-high 18 points and pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds (also a career high). The sophomore was 7-for-11 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the foul line. The guard/forward added a game-high three blocks to go along with two steals. She now has seven career double-figure scoring games.
Vivien Nejašmić added a career-high 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting in 22 minutes of action off the bench. She also pulled down a career-high seven rebounds. The sophomore guard now has two career double-figure scoring games.
Audia Young added a season-high 10 points in 26 minutes of action off the bench. She chipped in two steals. The guard now has five career double-figure scoring games.
Meri Kanerva finished with nine points, five assists and two rebounds. Petra Oborilova had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. Mariyah Noel finished with six rebounds.
Xavier posted a .377 field-goal percentage (23-for-61) and went 8-for-31 from behind the arc. Xavier was also 10-for-19 from the foul line.
Xavier won the battle on the glass, 49-44. The 49 rebounds are the most in a game by the Musketeers since pulling down 50 vs Old Dominion on Nov. 19, 2022 at Cintas Center (W, 65-49).
Xavier scored one more point off of turnovers (13-12) than Long Island and had one more fastbreak point (7-6). Both teams scored 22 points in the paint.
Long Island held a 30-27 advantage in bench points and scored one more second-chance point (18-17) than the Musketeers.
The Sharks were limited to a .302 field-goal percentage (19-for-63) and went 8-for-20 from behind the arc. Long Island was 11-for-20 from the foul line.
Xavier limited Long Island's leading scorer Kadidia Toure to a season-low nine points (only game not in double figures this season) and a season-low two made field goals. She entered the game averaging 19.4 points per game. Toure pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
Janessa Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
