Maddox matches career high with 26 points to lead four Musketeers in double figures.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Dante Maddox Jr. matched his career-high with 26 points to lead four Musketeers in double figures as Xavier took a 91-82 win at Providence on Wednesday evening.
The Musketeers improved to 15-10 (7-7 BIG EAST), while the Friars moved to 11-14 (5-9 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to Cintas Center on Saturday, February 15 to host DePaul at Cintas Center, set for a noon start on FS1. The game against the Blue Demons is sold out, but tickets are still available through SeatGeek, the official secondary ticket partner of Xavier Athletics.

The Musketeers improved to 15-10 (7-7 BIG EAST), while the Friars moved to 11-14 (5-9 BIG EAST).

NOTABLE
- Providence jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Xavier 16-5 in the first four minutes of the game. Xavier scored seven unanswered to cut the lead back to four but the Friars maintained a two-to-three possession lead going into the final 10 minutes of the first half. Four straight Xavier three pointers, including three from Dante Maddox Jr. started a 22-0 run for the Musketeers to erase PC's lead and put the Musketeers up 15, matching the largest lead of the first half.
- Providence would score seven unanswered to get the lead down to single digits but the Musketeers closed the half on an 7-0 run, capped by a Zach Freemantle bucket at the buzzer to go into the break up 15, 45-30. Dante Maddox Jr. led all scorers with 16 first-half points and Zach Freemantle added 12 for the Musketeers.
- Xavier outscored Providence 17-6 over the first five minutes of the second half to stretch the lead out to 26, 62-36. The Musketeers maintained a 20-point lead until Providence went on a 13-1 run to pull within 10, 73-63, with seven minutes to play. The Friars would get as close as nine down the stretch, with Xavier taking the 91-82 win.
- Dante Maddox Jr. finished with a season high 26 points, matching his career high. Maddox Jr. connected on a season-high six three pointers, matching his career high and matching Xavier's season high, set by Ryan Conwell against Villanova at Cintas Center.
- Zach Freemantle led Xavier in the second half with 11 points, finishing with 23 points. He also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
- Ryan Conwell finished with 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had a team-high matching four assists.
- Dailyn Swain added 13 points for the Musketeers and also dished out four assists.
- Xavier shot 44.1 percent (26-59) overall, connecting on 48.1 percent (13-27) from three. Providence shot 53.7 percent (36-67), connecting on 32.0 percent (8-25) from three.
- The Musketeers connected on 26-29 on free throws while the Friars went 2-of-10 from the line.
- Xavier finished with a 35-34 overall advantage on the boards. Providence had a 11-10 advantage on the offensive glass.
