Baseball Rallies Late to Win Game Three and Series at Liberty

Musketeers take 2-of-3 against the Flames in Virginia
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Xavier baseball posted another late-inning comeback to take game three at Liberty, 5-4, and clinch the series win at 2-1. The Musketeers moved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
Liberty took a 3-0 lead in the first and held it into the sixth inning when Jake Lambdin got aboard with a single, and Carter Hendrickson drove him in with a two-run homer, his second home run of the season, to cut the lead back to 3-2.
The 3-2 score held into the bottom of the seventh when the Flames added a run to take a 4-2 advantage. Xavier responded in the top of the eighth, scoring three runs to take lead. Aedan Anderson led off the inning with a solo home run to cut the lead back to one. Connor Misch got aboard on an error and Landon Mensik got on with a double to put two on with one out. Clay Burdette hit a single to right field to drive in Misch and Mensik, putting the Musketeers in front, 5-4.
Ashton Chronister pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning and got the first two outs of the ninth, picking up the win, and Jake Lambdin entered for the final out of the game, keeping the Flames off the board to seal the win and earn the save.
The Musketeers will head to Bloomington, Ind. on Tuesday, February 25, to take on the Indiana Hoosiers, set for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch.

- Ashton Chronister came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh, picking up the final out of the inning to help limit the Flames to one run in the frame. Chronister pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three on the way to picking up the win, moving him to 2-0 on the season.
- Jake Lambdin entered with two outs in the ninth, with a runner on first, and picked up the out to seal the win and earn the save, his first of the season.
