Baseball Picks Up 8-4 Win at Indiana

Musketeers head to Palo Alto for four-game series with Stanford this weekend
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  - Xavier baseball picked up an 8-4 win over Indiana on Wednesday afternoon, moving to 2-0 against the Hoosiers on the season. The Musketeers stand at 5-3 overall with the win.
Aedan Anderson got the Musketeers on the board in the first with a solo home run, his second of the season, and then following a Connor Misch walk, Landon Mensik made it a 3-0 lead with his second homer of the season. IU picked up a run in the bottom of the frame, and the 3-1 score held into the fifth.
Carter Hendrickson got on after being hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the fifth, the moved to third as Isaac Wachsmann reached on an error. Connor Misch hit into a fielder's choice to bring Hendrickson in to make it a 4-1 lead. IU again answered in the bottom of the inning, tying the game with three runs.
Xavier retook the lead, 5-4, in the sixth after Clay Burdette got on with an error, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to right from Jason Jelic. Jake Lambdin walked and Carter Hendrickson was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Anderson, who hit a sac fly to left to bring in another run, 6-4.
Two more runs scored for the Musketeers in the eighth after Eddie Peters led the inning off with a double and Jason Jelic singled. Peters scored on an error after Jake Lambdin reached on a fielder's choice, and Jelic came home on another sac fly from Anderson.
Luke Hoskins came in for the final two innings, facing the minimum to keep the Hoosiers off the board and seal the win.
