Musketeers play the Cardinal in a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 4 PM ET

STANFORD, Calif. - Xavier baseball opened up the series at Stanford with a 10-2 loss on Friday evening, moving to 5-4 on the season

After two scoreless innings, Xavier took the lead in the third after singles from Jake Lambdin, Carter Hendrickson and Aedan Anderson loaded the bases with no outs. Connor Misch singled through the left side to bring in Lambdin and Hendrickson, putting the Musketeers in front, 2-0.

Stanford responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to even it up at 2-2, and the tie held into the sixth when the Cardinal added a run to take a 3-2 lead. The one-run advantage held into the eighth inning when Stanford posted a seven-run frame to extend the lead to 10-2. The Cardinal held the Musketeers off the board for the final frame to seal the win.

The four-game series at Stanford continues on Saturday with a doubleheader, with game one set for 4:05 PM ET and game two of the doubleheader to follow.

AT THE PLATE

Connor Misch went 2-3 at the plate with a walk, driving in a pair of RBI with a single in the third inning.
Carter Hendrickson went 2-4, getting on with a single in the third inning and coming around to score a run.
Jake Lambdin went 1-3 with a walk, using a single to get on in the third and scoring a run.
Nolan Tucker finished 1-1 after picking up a hit while pinch hitting.
Aedan Anderson (1-3) got on base with a third-inning single and also got aboard with a walk.
Isaac Wachsman and Clay Burdette each got on with a walk as well.

ON THE MOUND

Jake Hooker went a career-long 6.0 innings in the start, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks.
Logan Schmidt entered for the seventh inning, allowing six runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Evan Whiteaker entered with two on and one out in the eighth, allowing one run on one hit and two walks with on strikeout in 0.2 innings of work.
