Xavier travels to Tulane for three games this weekend
HAMMOND, La. - Xavier baseball fell, 7-4, at Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday evening, moving to 7-11 on the season.
Xavier got on the board first after the first two batters got aboard in the second, with Jason Jelic leading off the inning with a double and Hayden Christiansen getting on with a walk. Nolan Tucker bunted to the left side of the infield, reaching on a throwing error and making it all the way to third, with Jelic and Christiansen scoring to make it a 2-0 Xavier lead. Carter Hendrickson brought Tucker in with an RBI single to make it a 3-0 lead.
The Lions cut the lead to one with a two-run homer in the second, then added four in the third to take a 6-3 lead, which held into the fifth.
Jason Jelic and Hayden Christiansen each took a two-out walk in the top of the fifth to put two on for Nolan Tucker. Another error allowed Tucker to reach safely, with Jelic scoring to cut the lead to two, 6-4. The Lions added another run in the seventh to set the final score at 7-4.
Xavier remains in Louisiana for the weekend series, taking on Tulane in three games, starting Friday and running through Sunday.
