Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Tulane

Musketeers open home schedule on Friday, March 21 with Ball State
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the first after Jake Lambdin got on with a walk, the first of four for the Musketeers in the frame, eventually scoring on a single from Nolan Tucker.
The lead held into the bottom of the fourth when the Green Wave scored a pair to take the lead. The 2-1 advantage held into the top of the sixth, when Xavier led off the inning with singles from Clay Burdette and Tucker, with Burdette scoring on an RBI single from Isaac Wachsmann to tie it. Tucker scored on a groundball from Hayden Christiansen to put the Musketeers back in front, 3-2.
Tulane added two in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead, but the Musketeers answered to tie it up a 4-4 in the seventh after Carter Hendrickson reached on a fielding error, moved to third on a double from Connor Misch and came home after Jason Jelic put the ball in play. The Green Wave responded again, picking up a run in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead, setting the final score at 5-4
Xavier returns to Cincinnati to open up the home schedule next weekend, hosting Ball State for a three-game series at Hayden Field, set to get underway on Friday, March 21.

- Logan Schmidt entered with runners on the corners and two outs in the seventh, getting out of the inning with a flyball. He went the final 1.1 innings, not allowing a run and giving up just one hit.
