Conwell, Freemantle Lead Musketeers to Senior Day Win Over Friars

Xavier has now won seven straight games
CINCINNATI - Ryan Conwell and Zach Freemantle combined for 46 points on Saturday afternoon, leading the Musketeers to a 76-68 win over Providence on Senior Day.
The Musketeers have now won seven straight games, improving to 21-10 (13-7 BIG EAST). The Friars moved to 12-19 (6-14 BIG EAST).
Xavier will be the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Musketeers will take on No. 5 seed Marquette in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tip-off is slated for 2:30 p.m. with the game being broadcast on Peacock.

NOTABLE
- The opening half was back-and-forth as it featured eight lead changes and two ties. Neither team led by more than five points with the Musketeers leading for nearly 16 minutes of action.
- Providence led, 32-31, with 1:43 left in the half before Xavier closed the frame on a 5-0 run behind baskets from Marcus Foster and Ryan Conwell. Conwell led all scorers with 13 points at the break.
- Xavier never trailed again in the contest. Providence tied the game, 46-46, with 13:13 left in regulation - but the Musketeers got back-to-back baskets from Marcus Foster and Zach Freemantle to regain a lead they would never relinquish.
- Xavier took its first double-figure advantage, 59-58, on a Zach Freemantle basket with 4:05 on the clock. The Musketeers led by double figures twice in the closing minute of the game before pulling away for the 76-68 win.
- Zach Freemantle scored a team-high 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting, his eighth game of the year with 20 or more points (third in a row). The forward added a team-high eight rebounds.
- Ryan Conwell added 21 points on 6-for-14 shooting. He made a team-high four 3-pointers and dished out five assists. The guard now has 11 games with 20 or more points this season (four in a row).
- Jerome Hunter finished with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting. He added three rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes of action off the bench.
- Dante Maddox Jr. dished out a game-high seven assists. Marcus Foster finished with seven rebounds, six points and three steals.
- Dailyn Swain had eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
- Xavier finished with a .448 field-goal percentage (26-for-58) and went 7-for-20 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 17-for-21 from the foul line. Xavier has posted 20 or more assists in a game 12 times this season.
- Xavier won the battle on the glass, 35-30, and scored 10 more points off of turnovers (20-10) than the Friars. Xavier also held an 11-8 advantage in second-chance points and scored six more bench points (12-6).
- Providence scored three more fastbreak points (8-5) than Xavier.
- The Friars posted a .481 field-goal percentage (26-for-54) and went 12-for-24 from 3-point range. Providence was also 4-for-11 from the foul line.
- All told, the game featured 10 lead changes and four ties.
