Musketeers travel to Louisiana for next five games, starting with LSU on Tuesday

NASHVILLE - Xavier baseball fell in the series finale at No. 12 Vanderbilt, 4-0, on Sunday at Hawkins Field. The Musketeers moved to 7-9 on the year, while Vanderbilt improved to 13-3 after the Commodores took the weekend series, 3-0.

Vanderbilt took a one-run lead in the third and added three more in the fourth to lead 4-0. Ben Weber entered from the bullpen and pitched the final 5.0 innings, only giving up one hit after the fourth frame. Xavier's pitching limited Vanderbilt to a season-low four hits, but the Dores only allowed one Musketeer hit and two walks on the day on the way to the 4-0 win.

Xavier heads to Louisiana for a pair of midweek games, starting with LSU on Tuesday, March 11, set for a 7:30 p.m. ET start.

AT THE PLATE

Jason Jelic (1-3) recorded a hit with a lead-off single in the third.
Carter Hendrickson got aboard with a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Landon Mensik was also hit by a pitch.
Isaac Wachsmann also got on base with a walk.

ON THE MOUND

Joseph Chavana made the start, going 3.0 innings with four earned runs allowed on two hits and five walks, striking out one.
Ben Weber entered in the fourth with the bases loaded and no outs and went a season-long 5.0 innings without allowing an earned run, giving up just one hit in his final 4.0 innings pitched. Weber finished with three strikeouts without issuing a walk, and faced the minimum after the fourth inning, with the lone base runner caught stealing.
