Zach Freemantle And Ryan Conwell Voted All-BIG EAST By League Coaches

Freemantle is on the second team and Conwell is on the third team.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University placed two players on the All-BIG EAST teams selected by the league coaches and announced today by the BIG EAST Conference. Graduate student Zach Freemantle was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and junior Ryan Conwell was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team.
Freemantle leads the team in scoring (fifth in the BIG EAST at 17.4 ppg.) and rebounding (fifth in the BIG EAST at 7.1 rpg.) and has averaged 19.9 ppg. and shot 59.8 percent (58-97) from the field during XU's current win streak. Freemantle is third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.525) and ninth in free throw percentage (.757). He has scored in double figures in all of the 28 games he has played this season.
Freemantle has scored 1,714 career points in 133 career games, which is 12th on XU's all-time scoring chart and is ninth on XU's all-time rebounding list with 876 rebounds. He stands just eight points shy of the top 10 on the XU scoring list. Only three Musketeers are currently in the top 10 for Xavier in career scoring and rebounding: David West, Tyrone Hill and Romain Sato.
Freemantle was selected to the 2020-21 All-BIG EAST Second Team by the league coaches, who also chose him for 2020-21 BIG EAST Most Improved Player Award honors. In addition, he was selected to the 2019-20 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Conwell is second on the team and ninth in the BIG EAST Conference in scoring at 16.2 ppg. Conwell recorded his fourth-straight 20-point game (team-high 11th of the season) with 21 points vs. Providence on March 8, becoming the first XU player to score 20+ in four straight games since Naji Marshall (Dallas Mavericks) did it in four straight games in the 2019-20 season. Conwell is fourth in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage at .825 and has hit 40.7 percent from 3-point range, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. His 2.9 3-pointers made per game rank fourth in the BIG EAST and his 90 total 3-pointers made, including four or more in each of the last three games, rank fourth in the BIG EAST.
Conwell was named 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year, MVC Second Team and MVC All-Tournament Team last season at Indiana State.
Xavier, 21-10 overall and 13-7 in the BIG EAST Conference, is the No. 4 seed in this week's BIG EAST Tournament and will take on No. 5 seed Marquette, 22-9 overall and 13-7 in the BIG EAST, in the Quarterfinals on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. XU is riding a seven-game win streak.
