Five Musketeers Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

Connor Misch earns First Team All-BIG EAST; Four earn Second Team accolades
NEW YORK – After helping Xavier to the No. 3 seed in the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament, five Musketeers earned All-BIG EAST honors, the league office announced on Tuesday. Connor Misch earned All-BIG EAST First Team Honors, while Ryan Piech, Logan Schmidt, Nolan Tucker and Ben Weber all earned a spot on the league's Second Team.
Connor Misch, a junior from Dyer, Ind., was the league's First Team Selection at first base. Misch has started in all 56 games this season for the Musketeers, with a .328 average at the plate for the season, with 60 hits, a team-high, and 44 walks for the season, driving in 44 RBI and scoring 37 runs.
In conference play, Misch leads the league with a .448 average at the plate through 21 games. Of his 60 hits for the season, 30 have come against conference opponents, including three of his four home runs. Misch, who also leads the conference with a .581 on-base percentage in BIG EAST play, has driven in a team-high 25 RBI against BIG EAST opponents.
This is Misch's second all-conference selection, also earning a spot on the 2024 All-BIG EAST Second Team. He was also the Preseason All-BIG EAST selection at first base prior to this season.
Ryan Piech, a red-shirt freshman from Aurora, Ohio, earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team as a starting pitcher, making a team-high 13 starts so far this season and collecting a team-leading 63 strikeouts in 56.2 innings of work, holding opposing batters to a .174 average at the plate.
The righty made six starts in league play, posting a 2.60 ERA through 27.2 innings of work, the fourth best among qualified pitchers in the BIG EAST. He's only allowed eight earned runs in conference action and collected 31 strikeouts against conference opponents. In BIG EAST play, he's held opposing batters to a .135 average at the plate, best among qualifying pitchers in the conference.
This is the first all-conference honor of Piech's career.
Logan Schmidt, a senior from Orange Park, Fla., earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team as a starting pitcher after making 18 appearances, including nine starts for the Musketeers, collecting 57 strikeouts to just 20 walks through 63.2 innings of work, with a WHIP of 1.34 for the season.
The right-hander made five starts in conference play, allowing just 12 earned runs in 33.1 innings pitched against conference opponents. In BIG EAST play, Schmidt has 29 strikeouts to just six walks and leads the Musketeers in league play with a WHIP of 0.91. In BIG EAST play, Schmidt has held opposing batters to a .197 average at the plate.
This is the second all-conference honor of Schmidt's career, also earning 2023 All-Sun-Lakes Conference Second Team honors while at St. John's River State College.
Nolan Tucker, a graduate student from Cedar Lake, Ind., was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team at second base. He's played in 49 games this season, making 40 starts, and leads the Musketeers with a.352 average at the plate.
Tucker has a .375 average through 21 BIG EAST games, which ranks 10th among the league's players. He has 30 hits against conference opponents, matching Misch for team high in BIG EAST play, and has 23 runs scored in league play, matching Carter Hendrickson to lead the Musketeers.
This is Tucker's second all-conference selection of his career, earning 2022 All-MVC First Team honors while at Valpo.
Ben Weber, a junior from St. Paul, Minn., was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection at starting pitcher, has made 17 appearances, including a 11 starts, with a team-high 81.0 innings pitched. He's posted a 3.56 ERA and a WHIP of 1.32, best among Xavier's qualified pitchers, and has a team-high six wins for the season.
The right-handed pitcher made seven starts in BIG EAST play, with a 3.98 ERA through 43.0 innings pitched in league competition, tied for second-most innings pitched among conference pitchers. In BIG EAST games, he's collected 20 strikeouts and has a WHIP of 1.47. His four wins in BIG EAST play match for the most among conference pitchers.
This is the first all-conference honor of Weber's career.
