Jake Lambdin hits second home run of the tournament, finishes game with two RBI

MASON, Ohio - Xavier baseball fell, 11-2, to Connecticut in an elimination game in the BIG EAST Tournament at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, on Friday evening.

After the game was scoreless through two innings, UConn scored in the third, fourth and fifth frames to take a 10-0 lead into the sixth.

Jake Lambdin led off the sixth inning with a solo home run to get the Musketeers on the board. The Musketeers picked up another run in the seventh, with Clay Burdette, Aedan Anderson and Donavan Canterberry talking walks to load the bases, and another walk, from Lambdin, bringing in Burdette to make it 10-2 UConn.

The Huskies added another run in the eighth to set the final score at 11-2.

AT THE PLATE

Jake Lambdin went 1-3 with a walk, driving in two RBI and scoring a run after hitting his second home run of the tournament and fifth of the season. Lambdin batted .357 through three games in the tournament, driving in three RBI and scoring five runs.
Aedan Anderson finished with a hit (1-3) and walk. He batted .333 through three games of the tournament, driving in two RBI and scoring a run.
Luke Hammond got aboard with a double.
Clay Burdette got on with a pair of walks, scoring a run. He finished the tournament with a .364 average at the plate through the three games, with a pair of home run among his four hits, driving in five RBI and scoring four runs.
Nolan Tucker and Donavan Canterberry each got aboard with a walk.
Connor Misch batted .385 for the conference tournament, driving in six RBI and scoring five runs.

Logan Schmidt made the start, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks in 4.0 innings, striking out four.
Jake Hooker entered with two on and no outs in the fifth, facing five batters, and allowing three runs on two hits and two walks.
Luke Hoskins entered with two on and two outs in the fifth, allowing two hits in 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out a pair. Hoskins posted a 0.00 ERA through 5.1 innings pitched in two appearances in the BIG EAST Tournament, striking out six.
Joseph Chavana entered for the seventh, going 1.0 inning, walking two and striking out one without allowing a run or a hit. He posted a 0.00 ERA in two appearances in the conference tournament.
Jack DeTienne pitched the eighth, allowing one earned run on two hits, striking out two.
