Xavier posted a 54-hole score of 840 (E) at the three-day tournament

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - Xavier men's golf finished fifth at the JT Poston Invitational hosted by Western Carolina on Tuesday evening. The three-day tournament was played at the Waynesville Inn & Country Club.

The Musketeers placed tied for fifth place with a 54-hole score of 840 (E), tying with UTRGV in a field of 15 teams. Southern Miss won the tournament with a score of 827 (-13), one stroke ahead of Kennesaw State (828, -12).

Western Carolina's Tyler Jones took home medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 200 (-10), finishing three strokes ahead of Jorge Martin Sampedro (UTRGV) who recorded a score of 203 (-7). The field consisted of 90 golfers.

Ray Filter paced the Musketeers, placing tied for fourth with a score of 205 (-5). He now has six career top-10 finishes.

Xavier now has nine top-five team finishes with two tournament titles and two runner-up finishes since the start of the 2024-25 season.
