Peyton Kohls scores for third-straight match
STORRS, Conn. - No. 24 Xavier women's soccer remained unbeaten in league player, playing Connecticut to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening. Xavier extended its unbeaten streak to eight, now standing at 6-2-2, with a 1-0-1 record in BIG EAST play.
In the first half, Xavier controlled the ball, out-shooting UConn 9-2, with a 5-0 advantage on shots on goal, finding the back of the net in the 31st minute. Peyton Kohls scored for a third straight match, off a pass from Regan Dancer, to give Xavier the 1-0 lead at the half.
UConn's offense picked up the pressure in second half, getting two shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the second half. The second look on frame found the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1. Both teams had six shots in the second half, but Xavier's defense did not allow another look on frame after the Huskies' goal. The Musketeers were unable to find the go-ahead goal, setting the final score at 1-1.
The Musketeers return to Corcoran Field on Saturday, Sept. 27, hosting Villanova at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Xavier will celebrate Senior Day prior to the match.
