CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team dropped a three-set match to rival Cincinnati on Tuesday night at Fifth Third Arena.

The Bearcats took advantage of six service errors in the first set by the Musketeers to win the opening frame, 25-20.

XU was held to a .098 clip in the second set despite a solid defensive effort of 17 digs.

The Musketeers started to bounce back in the third set, hitting a combined .500, but the Bearcats' offense exploded for 18 kills on a .581 clip to close out the sweep.

Emma Grace continued her six-game double-double streak with 11 kills and 11 digs while hitting .308.
Charlotte Moriarty had nine kills and seven digs on a .316 clip.
Anna Taylor and McKinley Boehm each recorded eight kills with Boehm hitting a team-high .385.
Macy Hatkevich tabbed 25 assists to reach the 2000 career assist mark.
For the first time this season, the Musketeers were unable to tally a single block.
XU aced the Bearcats six times in the match while the Musketeers were aced just two times, a season-low.
The loss snapped Xavier's six-game win streak and falls short of matching the program's best start to the season at 7-0 in 2007.

Xavier returns to action this weekend at the Golden Grizzly Invite hosted by Oakland this weekend. The Musketeers open the tournament against Eastern Michigan at 12:00 p.m. on Friday in Rochester, Michigan. XU will face host Oakland on Friday night and close out the weekend against Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon.
