Four Musketeers Reach Double Figures in Win Over DePaul

CINCINNATIÂ - Four Musketeers reached double figures on Tuesday night as Xavier defeated DePaul, 71-61, at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers improved to 10-7 (3-5 BIG EAST), while the Blue Demons dropped to 4-15 (1-7 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 vs St. John's. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

- The game featured five ties and three lead changes. DePaul led for 32:37, while Xavier led for 5:03.
- DePaul led by as many as 14 points (48-34) with 3:01 left in the third quarter and took an 11-point advantage (53-42) into the final quarter.
- Xavier responded by outscoring DePaul, 29-8, in the fourth quarter to pull off the come-from-behind victory. The Musketeers went 8-for-12 from the floor and 12-for-15 from the foul line in the final quarter. Meri Kanerva scored 11 of her 15 points in the final quarter. The 29 fourth-quarter points are a season-high by the Musketeers in a quarter.
- Four Musketeers reached double figures in a game for the first time this season: MacKenzie Givens (18), Mariyah Noel (16), Meri Kanerva (15) and Savannah White (11). The last time Xavier had four players score in double figures was on Dec. 22, 2024 vs Fordham (W, 71-62).
- Savannah White posted her first double-double of the season (third of her career), scoring 11 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. The forward dished out a game-high five assists (matched her career high) to go along with three blocks and one steal. The forward now has 11 career double-figure scoring games and seven career double-figure rebounding games.
- MacKenzie Givens scored a game-high 18 points on 8-for-12 hooting. She added seven rebounds, one block and one steal. She now has eight career double-figure scoring games.
- Mariyah Noel added 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal. The guard now has 13 career double-figure scoring games.
- Meri Kanerva added 15 points, three steals, three assists and two rebounds. She now has a team-leading 26 career double-figure scoring games.
- Xavier posted a .472 field-goal percentage (25-for-53) and went 3-for-12 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 18-for-26 from the foul line (18 made free throws are the second most in a game this season).
- The Musketeers finished with six blocks, the third most blocks in a game this season.
- DePaul won the battle on the glass, 38-36, and scored five more second-chance points (13-8). The Blue Demons also held a 35-9 advantage in bench points and scored three more fastbreak points (9-6).
- Xavier scored 10 more points in the paint (40-30) than DePaul and held a 20-14 advantage in points off of turnovers.
- DePaul finished with a .365 field-goal percentage (23-for-63) and went 6-for-17 from behind the arc. The Blue Demons were also 9-for-15 from the foul line.
- Michelle Ojo and Alayna West each scored 12 points for the Blue Demons.
- Xavier has now won two straight vs DePaul after going 1-29 in the series.
- Xavier has double-figure wins in a season for the first time since 2018-19 (posted an 11-19 record).
