Noel Scores Career-High 30 Points in Loss vs Red Storm

St. John's defeated Xavier, 66-64, on Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center
CINCINNATIÂ - Mariyah Noel scored a career-high 30 points in Saturday's 66-64 loss to St. John's at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 10-8 (3-6 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 15-5 (5-4 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Creighton. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. ET from D.J. Sokol Arena with the game being aired on ESPN+.

- The game featured nine ties and 14 lead changes with neither team leading by more than six points in the contest. Xavier led for 23:48, while the Red Storm led for 12:52.
- With the game tied at 64-64 with one second left in the game, Shaulana Wagner hit the game-winning basket for the Red Storm. On the ensuing possession following a Xavier timeout, a last-second shot by Mariyah Noel fell short as St. John's escaped with the two-point win.
- Mariyah Noel scored a game-high 30 points on 9-for-15 shooting. She added a game-high nine rebounds to go along with five assists and three steals in 40 minutes of action. The guard is the first Xavier player to score 30 or more points in a game since Jan. 4, 2017 (Raeshaun Gaffney scored 33 points in a 72-64 win vs Seton Hall). Noel now has 14 career double-figure scoring games.
- MacKenzie Givens added 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting. She added two assists and one steal. The guard/forward now has four career 20-point performances (nine total double-figure scoring games).
- Meri Kanerva finished with six points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 40 minutes of action.
- Savannah White added seven rebounds, four points and one steal. Audia Young posted three points, one assist and one steal.
- Xavier posted a .469 field-goal percentage (23-for-49) and went 6-for-13 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 12-for-14 from the foul line.
- St. John's won the battle on the glass, 27-24, and scored 14 more second-chance points (16-2) than the Musketeers. The Red Storm also held a 19-18 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored 16 more bench points (19-3).
- Xavier scored eight more fastbreak points (12-4) than St. John's.
- The Red Storm went 20-for-47 from the floor and 7-for-18 form three-point range. St. John's was also 19-for-20 from the foul line.
- Sa'Mya Wyatt scored a team-high 28 points for the Red Storm.
