Men's Tennis Heads to IU Indy for Sunday Morning Match

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis travels to Indianapolis to take on IU Indy on Sunday, Feb. 22, set for a 10:00 a.m. start at the West Indy Racquet Club.

The Jags are 3-7 on the season with wins over North Dakota, Marquette and Ball State.
IU Indy went 10-13 last season with a 4-4 record in Horizon League play, falling to Tennessee State in the first round of the Horizon League tournament.
The two programs last faced off in 2023, with Xavier taking a 6-1 win.

WEEKLY AWARDS

After picking up a pair of team wins over the weekend, Xavier men's tennis swept the BIG EAST Weekly Awards, with Alex Kotarski earning Singles Player of the Week, and Bode Campbell and Samuel Frizelle picking up Doubles Team of the Week.
Kotarski, a sophomore from Hinsdale, Ill., earned Singles Player of the Week after helping Xavier to a 2-0 weekend with a pair of singles wins. In Xavier's 5-2 win over Cleveland State, Kotarski picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win on the No. 3 court made it a 3-0 Xavier lead. Against NKU, Kotarski won on court No. 2, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the match for Xavier at 4-2, on the way to the 5-2 victory.
Campbell, a freshman from Bloomington, Minn., and Frizelle, a senior from Lutz, Fla., earned Doubles Team of the Week after going 2-0 as a pair over the 2-0 weekend for the Musketeers. In Xavier's 5-2 win over Cleveland State, Samuel Frizelle and Bode Campbell picked up the first decision on the way to taking the doubles point with a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court. The pair made it a 2-0 weekend with a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court against the Norse.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The Musketeers host Drake next weekend, on Friday, Feb. 27, at noon.
Xavier will face St. John's on Sunday, March 1 at Clevelands State.

THE MUSKETEERS

Xavier returns a trio from last year's squad that collected 10 wins and advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals, senior Kyle Totorica, and sophomores Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
The Musketeers added three transfers to the roster, senior Samuel Frizelle, who transferred from Florida Southern, junior Nick Herdoiza, who comes to Xavier from Northwestern, and Max Pettingell, a redshirt-freshman coming from Auburn.
Xavier also added a pair of freshmen to the roster, Bode Campbell, a four-star recruit out of Bloomington, Minn., and Lukas Grossman, a four-star from Atlanta.
