Men's Basketball Prepares For No. 2 Seed UConn In The BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals

Musketeers defeated Marquette last night.
NEW YORK --- The No. 10 seed Xavier University Musketeers, 15-17, take on the No. 2 seed University of Connecticut Huskies, 27-4, in a BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinal on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. Xavier defeated Marquette 89-87 in the first round. UConn, which is ranked No. 6 in the latest Associated Press Poll, had a first round bye.

Xavier holds a 7-2 all-time record in BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal action. UConn and Xavier have met only once in the tournament with the eventual champion Huskies defeating the Musketeers in a 2024 quarterfinal.

• Xavier senior Filip Borovićanin leads the team in rebounding (sixth in the BIG EAST at 7.5 rpg.) and assists (fifth in the BIG EAST at 4.3 apg.) and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio (fifth in the BIG EAST at 2.46). He is third in the BIG EAST with nine double-doubles.

• Xavier graduate student Roddie Anderson III, Xavier's fourth-leading scorer at 10.8 ppg., was named BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year by HoopsHD (hoopshd.com). He was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll on March 2 after averaging 24.0 ppg. for two games.
