Abby Nugent and Clara Owen Named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week

Pair went 2-0 in the No. 1 spot last week

NEW YORK - Xavier women's tennis duo of Abby Nugent and Clara Owen were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Nugent, a senior from Springboro, Ohio, and Owen, a sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, went 2-0 in No. 1 doubles to help Xavier take the doubles point in 4-0 wins over BIG EAST opponent Creighton and Penn in Orlando on Wednesday.

Against the Bluejays, the pair had the first decision, a 6-2 win, to help the Musketeers take the doubles point. Against the Quakers, the duo clinched the point with a 6-2 win.

The pair have now won four straight matches and seven overall for the season. This is the pair's second honor of the season, also earning it the week of 2/9.

Xavier returns to action on Thursday, March 19, hosting Arizona at 3:30 p.m. Following the match with the Wildcats, the Musketeers return to the courts on Sunday, March 22, hosting Cleveland State at 1:00 p.m.
