Men's Tennis Sweeps BIG EAST Weekly Awards

NEW YORK - After picking up a 4-3 win over BIG EAST foe Marquette last weekend, Xavier men's tennis swept the BIG EAST Weekly Awards, with Alex Kotarski picking up Singles Player of the Week for the second time this season, and Max Pettingell and Nick Herdoiza earning Doubles Team of the Week.

Kotarski, a sophomore from Hinsdale, Ill., earned Singles Player of the Week after putting the Musketeers in front, 3-2, against Marquette with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 win on the No. 3 singles court, helping Xavier to a 4-3 win over the Golden Eagles.

Pettingell, a redshirt freshman from Sarasota, Fla., and Herdoiza, a junior from West Bloomfield, Mich., earned Doubles Team of the Week after clinching the doubles point for Xavier on court No. 1 with a 6-4 win, helping the Musketeers to 4-3 win over Marquette.

Xavier travels to Nashville next weekend for three matches, starting with Tennessee State on Friday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m. ET. The Musketeers will also face Vanderbilt on Friday, March 13, at 6:00 p.m. ET. Xavier remains in Nashville on Saturday, March 14, to face Lipscomb at 11:00 a.m.
