Baseball Falls to Creighton in BIG EAST Tournament Elimination Game

Michael Murphy collects career-high seven strikeouts in the start
MASON, Ohio - No. 3 seed Xavier baseball fell, 7-4, to Creighton in an elimination game of the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament on Saturday evening at Prasco Park.
The Musketeers moved to 28-30Â overall on the season, while Creighton moved to 31-25 on year.
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run from Jonathan Fitz, taking the one run advantage into the the fifth.
A solo home run for the Bluejays tied it at 1-1 in the fifth, and Creighton moved in front in the sixth, scoring four runs to take a 5-1 lead.
Xavier responded in the bottom of the frame with three runs, with Jorge Valdes getting on with a single and Fitz getting on with a walk to put two on for Luke Hammond.
The third baseman singled to center field to bring in Valdes to cut it to 5-2. Tommy Townsend walked to load the bases, and bases-loaded walks from Peter Johnson and Tanner Thomas brought in two more runs to cut the lead to one, 5-4.
Creighton added a run back to the lead with a solo home run in seventh, and picked up another run in the ninth set the final score at 7-4.
