A Pair of Musketeers Earn CSC Academic All-District® Team Honors

Piech and Fitz honored for performance on the field and in the classroom
CINCINNATI – A pair of Musketeers, Ryan Piech and Jonathan Fitz, earned a spot on the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, announced this week. The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Piech is a redshirt sophomore from Aurora, Ohio majoring in Business Analytics and Innovation Systems. A First Team All-BIG EAST selection, Piech had team-best 3.18 ERA through 76.1 innings pitched across 14 starts. He limited opposing batters to a .201 average at the plate for the season, with a WHIP of 1.14. His 98 strikeouts led the Musketeers and ranked No. 3 in the league and No. 51 in NCAA DI at the conclusion of conference tournaments, while his 11.55 strikeouts per nine innings rank first in the league. Piech's 6.6- hits allowed per nine innings was also the best in the BIG EAST and No. 40 in NCAA DI at the conclusion of league tournament play.
Fitz is a junior catcher from Edgewood, Ky, majoring in Biology and Liberal Arts. Fitz played in 53 games this season, starting in 50, and posted a .289 average at the plate for the season. Among his 54 hits on the year were 16 hits for extra bases, including 11 doubles and five home runs. He also got aboard with 32 walks, matching for team high, and . Fitz finished the season with 34 RBI and 29 runs scored. Fitz posted a .317 average during conference action, with 26 of his hits and 16 walks coming against league opponents. His .434 on-base percentage was second best among Xavier's regular players during league play.
