Xavier Athletics Announces Adam Cohen as Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Tennis

Cohen spent last four seasons as men’s and women’s head coach at Eastern Kentucky

Cohen was hired to lead the newly reinstated men's and women's tennis programs at EKU in June 2022. During his time in Richmond, Cohen led the Colonels to a number of program firsts, including the program's first ever appearance in the ITA Team Rankings, the first win over a nationally ranked opponent, and the program's first NIT appearance in 2024.
During his tenure, Cohen led EKU's programs to over 75 wins, including guiding the men's team to a 20-win season in 2024, an improvement of 16 wins from the previous year. Cohen coached multiple All-ASUN selections at EKU, including the 2026 ASUN Freshman of the Year.
Cohen was hired at Eastern Kentucky after previously coaching the UT Tyler men's and women's tennis program from 2017 to 2022, overseeing the program's transition from Division III to Division II. At UT Tyler, Cohen led the men's team to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Division II Tournament in its first season of eligibility. He also guided the women's program to its first Division II postseason win and a trip to the Lone Star Conference Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.
During his five seasons at UT Tyler, Cohen led both Patriot teams to American Southwest Conference tournament championships in 2018 and guided the men to another tournament title in 2022. The Patriots also made three combined appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In 2021, Cohen was named Wilson ITA South Central Coach of the Year after leading the men's program to a regular-season LSC championship.
Cohen also previously coached at Mesa Community College from 2007-17, collecting 209 wins, winning nine conference championships, and making 17 national tournament appearances. The Thunderbird men won four-straight Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championships in his final four seasons, while the women claimed back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017. The men's team advanced to the national tournament in nine of his 11 seasons in Mesa, while the women made six straight trips to the NJCAA Tournament in his final six seasons.
Cohen, a native of Chandler, Arizona, was a nationally ranked player at Mesa Community College before taking over as head coach. He holds an Associate degree in Business from Mesa Community College and a Bachelor of Public Administration from Northern Arizona University.
