Julia Rowland Joins Women’s Lacrosse Staff as Assistant Coach

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's lacrosse coach Brittney Morris announced the addition of Julia Rowland to her staff as an assistant coach.
"We are so excited to welcome Julia to our staff and program," said Morris. "She is exactly the kind of person you want in your corner when you are building something special. She is a fierce competitor who is deeply committed to developing young women both on the field and beyond it. I could not be more thrilled to have her join our Musketeer family!"
Rowland comes to Xavier from Groton School in Groton, Mass., after spending three years as the head coach of girls' varsity lacrosse while also working as a full-time employee in the athletic department. She also spent two years as the head varsity basketball coach at Groton.
Rowland also served as the Director of True Massachusetts Central Lacrosse Club (formerly Central Lacrosse) for the past two years and brings nearly a decade of club coaching experience to Xavier.
"I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Morris' incredible staff at Xavier," said Rowland. "The energy around the program is palpable and I cannot wait to help them build on last year's strides and success."
After Rowland's college career was cut short due to COVID-19, she began coaching her coaching career at Massachusetts powerhouse Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. She spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Lincoln Sudbury, helping the team reach the elite eight and final four in those two seasons.
Rowland has also spent time coaching collegiately with stints at Division III standout Franklin & Marshall College as the offensive coordinator and a year at Division I St. Bonaventure University as the defensive coordinator. At St. Bonaventure, Rowland helped the Bonnies to their first Atlantic 10 playoff berth in 17 years.
Rowland is a member of the Israeli National Box Lacrosse Team, recently helping lead Team Israel to a gold medal at the European Box Lacrosse Championships in Prague. She finished the tournament with 20 points, top ten at the tournament and third on the team. Rowland formerly played on the Israeli National Field team where they finished in sixth in the 2022 World Championships in Baltimore, Md.
Rowland, a native of Massachusetts, earned a Bachelor's in Public Policy from Hamilton College where she was a member of the women's varsity lacrosse, soccer, and basketball teams. She also earned a Master's in Sport Journalism from St. Bonaventure.
