Brooklyn O'Brien scores game-winner, Maria Tapia adds insurance goal late on a PK
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Xavier women's soccer closed non-conference play with a fourth-straight win, topping Southern Indiana, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers moved to 6-2 on the season with the win.
Xavier took the lead in the 14th minute, with Brooklyn O'Brien scoring her team-high fifth goal of the season, off the assist from Frances Reuland, to put the Musketeers up 1-0.
The Musketeers finished with a 12-1 advantage on shots in the first half, with a 4-0 advantage on shots on-goal, taking the one-goal lead into the break.
In the second half, Xavier had 11 shots, with four going on-frame, while limiting the Screaming Eagles to five shots, with two going on-goal.
The Musketeers held the one-goal lead going into the final minutes, when a foul in the box led to a Xavier penalty kick. Maria Tapia connected on the PK, her second goal of the season, to set the score at 2-0.Â
