About Team Physicians
Robert Burger, M.D. considers himself most blessed to have the privilege of practicing Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery in his home town of Cincinnati. He is a founding member of Beacon Orthopaedics, served as President of Beacon for six years, and was a member of the Executive Committee for Beacon’s first 20 years.
Dr. Burger earned his Medical Degree in 1985 and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency in 1990 at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He then completed his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in 1991 at the nationally renowned Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic, where he worked directly with Dr. Jack Hughston, the first President of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and the first editor of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Burger maintains active certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, along with subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Burger is actively engaged in the field of sports medicine, and he has been the Medical Director and Head Team Physician for Xavier University athletics since 1999. He has also served as Assistant Team Physician and Orthopaedic Consultant for the Cincinnati Reds. Further, Dr. Burger is the Head Orthopaedic Surgeon and Team Physician for Mount Saint Joseph University athletics, along with the Cincinnati Steam. He also proudly serves as the Head Team Physician for his alma mater, LaSalle High School, a position he has held since 1992.
Dr. Burger was honored as the Outstanding Team Physician by the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2009 and was recognized by the Ohio Joint Advisory Board of Sports Medicine as Outstanding Team Physician in 2010. In addition, he has been recognized nearly every year over the past twenty by his peers as a “Top Physician” in Orthopaedic Surgery by Cincinnati Magazine.
Dr. Burleson is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow. He also has a special interest in employing state of the art techniques in cartilage restoration and biologics to improve his patients’ function and return them to the activities that they love.
Dr. Burleson completed his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles where he cared for some of the world’s most elite athletes. While at Kerlan-Jobe, Dr. Burleson served as the assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, Dodgers, Kings, Clippers, Galaxy, Sparks, Anaheim Ducks and Angels, University of Southern California (USC) football team, and Loyola Marymount University.
After growing up in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Dr. Burleson earned his undergraduate degree from Wright State University where he was a member of the men’s basketball team. He was a four-year starter, three-time captain, and helped lead the Raiders to a regular season and Horizon League conference tournament championship in 2007, earning the Raiders a trip to the NCAA tournament. Dr. Burleson attended medical school at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Loyola University of Chicago.
Dr. Burleson resides in Hyde Park with his wife, Noelle, daughters Sloane, and Storie, Son, Beau, and dog Pup, where they enjoy spending time outdoors, any type of sporting event, listening to and playing music, and quoting movies. He is very picky about the TV shows that he will binge watch and tries to dunk a basketball every year on his birthday. He is passionate about his community and eager to give back to the people that have given so much to him.
Dr. Amanda Chaney is a Cincinnati native and completed all of her medical training through Trihealth. She is board certified in Family Medicine and also board-certified in Sports Medicine. She sees Family Medicine and non-operative Orthopedic patients on a daily basis and treats patients of all ages. She serves as a team physician for Xavier University and also Walnut Hills High School and is a physician for the Trihealth Event Medicine Team.
Dr. Chaney is the Department Chair of Family Medicine for the Good Samaritan region for Trihealth and is also an office leader at her office in Clifton.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
Her specialties in Sports Medicine include ultrasound guided procedures, injury prevention, nutrition and osteopathic manipulative treatment.

Dr. Richard Okragly, M.D., was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree in Combined Sciences from Youngstown State University. He earned his medical degree from the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio, in 2000. He completed a residency in Family Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in suburban Chicago. Dr. Okragly then completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, in 2004.
Dr. Okragly is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Okragly serves as the Program Director for the TriHealth Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is active in teaching Family Medicine residents and Sports Medicine fellows. He has served as a Team Physician at Xavier University since 2005. Currently his roles include co-Medical Director and Athletics Health Care. He also serves as Team Medical Director at Mount St. Joseph University. He is a team physician for Norwood High School and the Cincinnati Rollergirls. He also is the Medical Director for the Xavier University Club Sports program. Dr. Okragly also serves as Assistant Medical Director for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon.
Dr. Okragly has been in practice at TriHealth’s Bethesda Family Practice in Norwood, Ohio, since July of 2004. His interests in Sports Medicine include health promotion and treatment of medical conditions affecting sports and exercise participation.
Emily E. Dixon, D.O., earned her Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Missouri in 2003. She then graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. Dr. Dixon subsequently moved to Cincinnati where she completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2010. She then completed her sport’s medicine fellowship with Beacon Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 2011.
Dr. Dixon has provided physician coverage for several local middle school, high school and college athletic programs. She has been a team physician at Xavier University since 2010. She has provided team coverage for USA Gymnastics and Perfection Gymnastics. She is also faculty for the TriHealth Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship which trains physicians who have completed medical school and residency, and wish to pursue subspecialty training in sports medicine. Dr. Dixon has taught musculoskeletal ultrasound at both a local and national level with the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She is a member of the AAFP, AMSSM and ACSM.
Dr. Dixon has special interest in diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound, orthobiologics, care of the female athlete, medical conditions associated with athletics, concussion, and osteoporosis and fragility fractures. Her education and experience make her trained to treat both adult and pediatric sport-related injuries, and nonsurgical orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Dixon was born and raised outside of Kansas City, MO. She is a Kansas City Chief’s football fanatic, and University of Missouri athletics fan. She and her family are also fans of FCC Cincinnati and Xavier University. She was a competitive soccer player and is still active (along with her husband and 2 daughters) in Pilates, cycling, hiking, swimming, snow skiing, and several other athletic activities. Dr. Dixon and her husband, Chris, recently summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, on 7/31/21.
