Ben Botts is in his first year with the men's basketball team working as a graduate program assistant. Botts came to Xavier after graduating from Indiana University Purdue University-Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana in May, 2011 with a degree in business management.
Botts' primary responsibilities include assisting in the program's video operations, including film breakdown, film exchange, and evaluation videos for Xavier players. Botts, 23, also assists the coaching staff in limited on-court activities during practice, advance scouting, on-campus recruiting, and team academics. In addition to his basketball duties, he is also pursuing his master's degree in sport administration.
While at IPFW, Botts started four years at shooting guard for Coach Dane Fife. He was a 3-year captain for a team that set a school record in wins each of his four seasons. He retired as the school's all-time leader in three-point percentage (.445), second all-time leader in three-point field goals made (237), and fourth all-time leader in scoring. In 2010 and 2011, he was named the IPFWs Athlete of the Year. He was a 2011 Second Team Summit League selection.
