2013-14 ... STENGER BATTLED FOR TIME: Played in 17 of XU's 20 games against BIG EAST teams, including starts in five straight games during one stretch ... Started eight games as a senior ... Logged 13 minutes vs. DePaul on Feb. 19 ... Returned on Dec. 14 vs. Cincinnati (logging two minutes) after sitting out the previous six games due to illness ... Former walk-on earned a scholarship for the second straight season ... Started three of the first four games.
EARNED HIS MINUTES AS A JUNIOR: Averaged 8.9 minutes per game, including a career-high 20 minutes of action at Tennessee on Dec. 29...had six points and a career-high eight rebounds at UT...came off the bench to make some major contributions at Butler on March 9, hitting both of his shots from the field and all four free throw attempts for eight points, his best scoring game since scoring 12 points in the season-opening Fairleigh Dickinson game on Nov. 9...contributed five rebounds and a career-high two blocks to go with six points in 19 minutes against Kent State on Dec. 9...started each of the first two regular season games and the exhibition game...started and scored 12 points, hitting all six of his shots from the field, and grabbed four rebounds in Xavier's season-opening win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 9...also started the exhibition game against Kentucky State on Nov. 3, tying for team-high scoring honors with 12 points to go with team highs of nine rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals.
TRANSFER: A transfer from Northern Kentucky University (former NCAA Division II school now in its first season at the NCAA Division I level)...sat out the games last season due to NCAA transfer rules...former walk-on who has been awarded a scholarship for the 2012-13 season...a lefty who practiced with the team last season and has two remaining seasons of eligibility left beginning with the 2012-13 season...played against Xavier in exhibition games in each of his two seasons at NKU.
AS A SOPHOMORE AT NKU (2010-11): Played in 28 games, starting 20 times for head coach Dave Bezold...scored in double figures in eight games, including a career-high 15 at Indianapolis on Feb. 17...grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds vs. Missouri-St. Louis...NKU was 21-9 in his sophomore season.
AS A FRESHMAN AT NKU (2009-10): Saw action in 30 games...averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game...scored 10 points in a victory against Christian Brothers in the championship game of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic on Nov. 21...was named the John L. Griffin Hustle Award recipient for that tournament...NKU was 17-13 in 2009-10.
ST. XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School...averaged 17.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest as a senior and helped the Bombers repeat as district champions...named to the Associated Press All-Southwest Ohio First Team...received special mention Division I All-State accolades...named St. Xavier's most valuable player...earned First Team All-Greater Catholic League South honors as a senior...basketball coach: Scott Martin.
