As a Senior (2018-19): Won 20 matches in singles action, including 16 matches in dual play to help the Musketeers win a program-record 20-straight matches and go 22-3 overall...went 4-0 in the No. 1 spot, picking up wins against Georgetown, Wright State, Creighton and Rockhurst...Played 18 matches in the No. 2 singles spot, going 12-6 overall...Finished with a 7-1 record against BIG EAST opponents, earning a spot on the 2019 All-BIG EAST First Team...In doubles play, went 23-9 overall, including a 15-5 mark partnered with Kaitlin Ruether...The pair went 2-0 in the No. 1 spot with wins over Dayton and Rockhurst...Also went 13-5 with Ruether in the No. 2 spot to help the Musketeers advance to the BIG EAST Championship match fo the third time in program history...Finished her careeer with 148 overall career wins, ranking in the top 15 in program history.
As a Junior (2017-18): Won 19 matches including four wins in the University of Cincinnati Fall Invitational last season… In dual play, Abelson won 13 matches at the No. 3 position and 11 of 14 matches spanning from Jan. 21 to March 24…Helped Xavier defeat BIG EAST rivals Butler, Georgetown, Villanova, and Seton Hall…Competed at the No. 3 spot in last year’s BIG EAST Tournament and contributed to a 4-1 Xavier win over Seton Hall with a two-set win, 6-3,7-5… Collected 17 dual match wins in doubles play at No. 1 position with Lauren Ghidotti.
As a Sophomore (2016-17): Complied a 12-8 singles record, 4-1 in the BIG EAST, playing the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions … Partnered with Zoe Manion, in doubles, at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions … Finished the season with a doubles record of 13-10 and a 5-0 record in the BIG EAST.Â
As a Freshman (2015-16): Member of the 2016 BIG EAST Championship Team where she contributed to the team from the No. 5 singles position and No. 3 doubles position paired with Lauren Ghidotti... Recorded a 16-10 over all singles record and a 5-2 singles BIG EAST record playing the No. 5 and No. 6 positions... paired with Lauren Ghidotti compiled a 17-9 doubles record.
Prior to Xavier: Three-time national doubles champion… National Regional singles champion… Midwest designated singles champion… Midwest third place closed singles and fourth place hard court doubles… 2014 Hoxie Memorial Award recipient for Southeastern Michigan.
Personal: Born June 16, 1997… Parents are Mitchell Abelson and Francine Greenfield… Has two older brothers, Jeremy and Adam… A three-time Michigan State Champion in golf while also placing 26th in the World Championship at Pinehurst… Majoring in Entrepreneurial Studies.Â
