CINCINNATI---David Janszen, a senior swimmer at St. Xavier High School, signed a National Letter of Intent Monday to attend Xavier University beginning the fall of 2002. A member of St. Xavier's 2001 National and State Swimming Championship Teams as a junior, Janszen finished second in the 200 Individual Medley and sixth in the 100 Backstroke at the 2001 Ohio State High School Swimming Championships. Janszen's performances earned National High School All-American status with national rankings of third in the 200 IM, twentieth in the 100 Backstroke, and first as a member of St. Xavier's 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay Teams. This past summer, Janszen finished first in the 200 IM and second in the 50, 100 and 200 Backstroke at the YMCA Nationals to lead Powell Crosley YMCA to a third place team finish. "David is an excellent student-athlete," stated Xavier University Head Swim Coach George Rathman. "David will contribute significantly to our team and help take us to the next level. Additionally, David swims all competitive events and will provide our team with versatility throughout the dual meet season. We are extremely excited to have David join our team. We believe Xavier University is an excellent fit for him academically and athletically."
