Men's Soccer Falls to Spartans

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State Spartans downed the Xavier men’s soccer team 1-0 with a goal in the 87th minute on Sunday in the season-opener for both schools.
Jordan Gruber scored for the Spartans with less than four minutes remaining in the match to give MSU the win.
Ty Helmle, making his first start in goal for the Musketeers, made four saves on the day for Xavier. The Spartans out-shot the Musketeers 14-9.
The game was the first of the MSU Radisson Soccer Classic. The Musketeers will play Michigan on Monday in the final game of the event.
