Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Tie With Temple

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Jimmy Cummings scored his third goal of the season as the Xavier University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Temple on Friday evening in Philadelphia. With the tie, XU moves to 3-10-5 overall, 2-3-3 in the Atlantic 10. Temple moves to 5-10-2, 3-3-2.
Temple got on the board first, scoring 28:11 into the match. Owl forward Joe Broker controlled a loose ball at the top of the box and fired a shot inside the far post and past a diving Liam Curran, making the score 1-0.
The Musketeers would not lie down though and answered with a goal of their own just over eight-minutes later.
After XU earned a corner, senior midfielder Bobby Salas struck a shot into the box that senior Chris Wolever headed towards the goal. Wolever' header was saved by Temple keeper Tony Practico but the ball deflected to Cummings who punched it in for the equalizer.
Curran made five saves on the night for XU while Pratico stopped four shots for Temple.
Temple held an 18-to-13 advantage in shots and a 6-to-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Musketeers attempted four corners to Temple's six.
XU will conclude regular season action on Sunday, November 6 as the team will remain in Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph's at 1:00 p.m.
