DAYTON, Ohio - The Xavier women's tennis team notched a 5-2 win over Wright State Tuesday afternoon on the Raiders' home courts in Dayton. With the win, XU improves to 10-7 overall while WSU falls to 1-9 for the year.
"Overall I was pleased with today's performance," commented head coach Eric Toth following the match. "With two starters missing, everyone had to step up their play and they did just that."
The Musketeers picked up the first point of the contest after winning two of three doubles matches. Sophomores Jill Ducro and Aylin Seyalioglu paired up at No. 2 doubles and narrowly downed WSU's Jessica Lee and Karina Presti, 9-8(5). At the three-spot, Senior Annie Diedalis teamed up with junior Jeanette Feider for an 8-0 win over Jackie Garrett and Monica Capozziello.
Freshman Kelsey Kinnard defeated Christa Ames, 6-1, 6-1, in the second singles flight while Diedalis, Ducro and Feider all notched singles wins as well.
Up next for the Musketeers is a rescheduled match versus Bradley on Wednesday, April 2, on the Xavier outdoor tennis courts. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
