McCambridge Named GLSCL Player Of The Year, Thomas Second Team

CINCINNATI -- Xavier senior John McCambridge was named the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Gary Henschen Player of the Year after a dominating summer with the Licking County Settlers. He was also named to the 2010 GLSCL First Team. Musketeer first baseman Ben Thomas was also honored with a spot on the GLSCL Second Team after a strong season with the Cincinnati Steam.
McCambridge has led the GLSCL in numerous offensive categories throughout the season. He currently leads the league in runs scored with 32 and hits with 68. His summer with the Settlers also included a 27-game hitting streak.
Thomas leads the Cincinnati Steam in batting average (.354), RBIs (29), home runs (2), on base percentage (.459), and hits (40). Thomas, who will be entering his senior season at Xavier, is also having a strong season defensively. He leads the Steam in fielding percentage at .990.
The GLSCL season wraps up Thursday, August 5 with McCambridge and the Settlers hosting the Delaware Cows at 7 p.m. at Dennison University.
