Xavier Takes Series at Georgetown, Posts Five-Run Win in Game Two

Carter Christenson went 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBI on Friday
The Musketeers improved to 12-20 (3-2 BIG EAST) on the year, while the Hoyas moved to 16-15 (0-2 BIG EAST).
Xavier took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, getting home runs from Clay Burdette and Jonathan Fitz. A RBI single by Luke Hammond in the third inning made the score 4-0. The Musketeers made the score 5-0 in the sixth inning on a Carter Christenson sacrifice fly.
The Hoyas scored their first run in the sixth inning on a Ashtin Gilio sacrifice fly. Xavier responded by scoring five runs on four hits in the seventh inning, taking a 10-1 advantage. The Musketeers push their lead to 10 runs in the next frame when Mitchell Morton crossed home plate.
Georgetown battled back to score two runs in the eighth inning and three in the ninth inning, making the final ledger, 11-6.
Xavier had three more hits (15-12) than Georgetown and left four more runners on base (12-8). Georgetown committed the lone error of the game.
The series finale vs the Hoyas is set for Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. with the game being aired live on MuscoVision.

- Carter Christenson went 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBI, two doubles and a run.
- Luke Hammond went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He added a stolen base. The senior now has eight, multi-hit games this season - ranking second on the team.
- Clay Burdette went 3-for-6 with three RBI, one run, one double and one homer. He now has a team-leading 11 multi-hit games on the year. The outfielder also has a team-high seven, multi-RBI games.
- Jonathan Fitz went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, a RBI and a homer.
- Peter Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate. Josh Stonehouse and Jorge Valdes both added one run and a hit.
- The 15 hits are the fourth most in a game this season. The Musketeers have recorded 10 or more hits in a game 11 times this season.
- The 11 runs are tied for the third most in a game this season for the Musketeers. Xavier has scored 10 or more runs in a game four times this season.
- Ryan Piech (4-3) three five strikeouts and issued two walks in six innings of work. The RHP allowed one run and five hits.
- Joey Arend threw two strikeouts in two innings of relief. The LHP allowed two runs and four hits.
- Jack DeTienne allowed three runs and three hits in one inning of relief. The RHP issued one walk.
