Xavier Picks Up 6-1 Decision Over Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Xavier men's tennis picked up a road victory over Youngstown State on Saturday night with a 6-1 decision. The Musketeers improved to 2-5 on the season following a loss on Friday night.
"I'm proud of how our guys came ready to play after a tough loss last night," head coach Eric Toth said. "Youngstown State is vastly improved program and we really had to play well to earn tonight's win. We'll get back to work this week to prepare ourselves for two tough opponents next weekend in Illinois State and Bradley."
All over Xavier's single points came in straight sets for the Musketeers. Sophomore Jimmy Roebker (6-1, 6-2) and sophomore Mesa Mei (6-0, 6-3) won from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. Also winning was Richard Canelas (7-5, 6-4), Brandon MacDonald (7-6(2), 6-0), and Marc Pretorius (6-2, 7-6 (5)). The loss was attributed to Freddy Abunku.
In doubles play Mei and Roebker won their match, while Canelas and Michael Moe won as well.
Both matches are on the road next weekend for the Musketeers.
