Musketeers Pull Out A Win Over Toledo

CINCINNATI - Men's tennis came up big this afternoon, capturing a win over Toledo in a nail-biting match up.
The Musketeers started the afternoon hot, winning all three of its doubles match-ups to take the go ahead lead on the Rockets.
Toledo roared back in singles however, taking a 3-2 lead before freshman Arthur Stefani shifted the momentum by defeating Garrett Cona in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. With the match tied at three points apiece, sophomore Jeremy Schneider was able to overcome Mark Singnil in the third set, 7-6.
"It was really close throughout the whole third set." Jeremy Schneider stated. "We each had a few tight service games. I think the difference in the end was my teammates support, they were pumping me up and were as loud as they possibly could've been after every point"
With the win over Toledo, the Musketeers move to 2-1 on the spring season.
"I was very happy with our doubles today." Interim Head Coach Doug Matthews mentioned, "But, like good teams do, Toledo responded in singles and the match came down to one tiebreak. Jeremy played aggressive when it mattered and we got a great win today. We're looking forward to another test Friday against EKU".
Xavier will look to continue the win streak January 30th, against Eastern Kentucky. Dual match play will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held at the Eastern Hills Tennis Complex! #LetsGoX
