OXFORD, Ohio - Baseball got the bats going again, scoring in double digits for a second straight game in another win over Miami (Oh.) on Wednesday, 10-5.

XU tied its season-high for runs, scoring 10 for the second straight game to support senior Eric Stiene. The righty picked up his first win on the bump, throwing six solid innings and allowing three earned runs to go with four strikeouts. Zac Lowther and Jacob Bodner both contributed scoreless innings of relief.

David Morton and Ethan Schmidt led the Musketeers with three-hit days, while Patrick Jones and Brian Bruening added two hits apiece. Schmidt scored three times, knocked in three and hit his first career home run in the fourth.

The Musketeers fell behind 2-0 in the second, but answered with a run in the third when Brian Bruening was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Trailing 3-1 after three, XU put together back-to-back two-run frames to jump ahead 5-3. Ethan Schmidt hit his first career homer, a two-run shot to left, to score Derek Hasenbeck and tie the game.

In the fifth, Schmidt added another RBI on a bases-loaded walk before David Morton scored Bruening on an infield single.

Xavier added three in the seventh and two in the eighth to take a commanding lead.

With one out, Xavier got three straight hits from Schmidt, Jones and Morton to begin the rally. Rylan Bannon then reached on an error, scoring Schmidt and Jones and setting up a sacrifice fly by Nate Soria.

Bruening began the eighth with a single to left-center before Schmidt dropped a two-out bunt hit down the third base line. Jones singled Bruening in on the next play before Morton walked and Bannon was struck by a pitch to bring in another XU run.

Miami threatened in the ninth, putting two runners on, but Bodner was able to slam the door with a strikeout to preserve the win.

Xavier returns to action this weekend, playing a three-game series at Lipscomb. Game one is set for Friday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
