Men's Tennis Splits BIG EAST Packed Weekend

CINCINNATI - After a small setback against BIG EAST opponent Marquette March 21st, the Musketeers looked for redemption against another BIG EAST foe in Villanova and were successful, winning 6-1.
Xavier jumped ahead early, defeating Villanova's tandems Kelley Donaldson and Mark Miller as well as William Elmore and Tim Abbracciamento, 8-5 and 8-7.
The Musketeers obtained five wins in head to head match-ups, to improve to an impressive 51-33 overall record in singles. At the No. 1 spot, Zach Mueck defeated Chris Sietz, 6-1, 6-2, to improve to 11-3. At the No. 2 spot, Jeremy Schneider relentlessly fought to serve past Bradley Noyes, 6-1, 6-7, 10-3. He now stands at 8-6. At the No. 3 spot, Matt Bishop defeated Tim Abbracciamento in two sets 6-4, 6-4, and the dynamic freshmen blew past each of their opponents, 6-2, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-3. Arthur Stefani is no 11-3 on the season and Gabriel Chaves Araujo is 9-3.
Xavier is now 10-4 on the season and will look to add to its stellar record with more terrific play. The men will be back in action against Western Michigan March 29th, at Xavier's outdoor courts if weather permits. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m.
