June 8, 2015
CINCINNATI -- Xavier head volleyball coach Christy Pfeffenberger has announced the hiring of Kelly Audia as an assistant volleyball coach.Â
Audia was previously a high school teacher and volleyball coach at Prairie Central HS in Fairbury, Ill. All told, Audia brings 18 years of coaching experience to Xavier.Â
"I am excited to add Kelly to our staff," said Pfeffenberger. "He has experience and success at many different levels of the game. His passion pushes him to constantly grow and learn in what he does. He is a great addition to our staff and will help us take this program to where we want to go."Â
Audia coached at Georgia State from 2010-13, serving as an assistant coach for two seasons before being promoted to associate head coach in 2012. He assisted in coaching six players to all-conference honors during his time with the Panthers, including two first-team honorees.Â
"I would like to thank Coach Pfeffenberger, Athletic Director Greg Christopher and Deputy Athletic Director Rich Franchak for the opportunity to work for such a great university. Xavier is an amazing place and our family is excited to be a part of it."Â
Audia was the head volleyball coach at Sequoyah HS in Canton, Ga., from 1997-2010 prior to joining the college coaching ranks. He led his team to seven conference championships, three state final four appearances and two Georgia State AAAAA Runner-Up finishes.Â
While at Sequoyah HS, he posted a record of 426-176 (.707) and was named GVCA Area Coach of the Year six times. Audia led his team to the state playoffs in 11 of his 12 seasons as head coach.Â
Audia also has experience at the USAV Junior Olympic level, serving as the head coach and technical director of the A5 Junior Olympic Volleyball Team from 2004-09. He served in those capacities for the U15 and U17 Teams.Â
The Woodstock, Ga., native earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Georgia Southern in 1996. He also holds a master's degree in education from North Georgia College and State University.Â
Audia is married to the former Tami Ores, a Xavier volleyball standout from 1997-2000.Â
