Women’s Soccer Opens Season at Evansville on Friday

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer heads to Evansville, Ind. on Friday, August 21 to face off against the Purple Aces at 7:00 p.m. to start the 2015 regular season.
Xavier brings in a class of eight newcomers to go with 19 returnees, including seven returning starters. After going 4-1-2 in the spring, the Musketeers traveled to Western Kentucky for its lone exhibition match of the fall. Against the Hilltoppers, the Musketeers came away with a 2-0 win after sophomore transfer Addie Englehart and junior Tori Doss each knocked in goals.
The matchup on Friday also marks Evansville's first regular season contest. The Purple Aces came out of exhibition play with a 2-1 win over Eastern Illinois and a 1-1 tie with Austin Peay. UE was named the preseason favorite to win the MVC in 2015 after returning eight starters from the 2014 team that finished 11-6-3.
Friday's match marks the 16th meeting between the two schools, with the Musketeers leading the series with a record of 8-5-2. In the last matchup in 2013, the Musketeers claimed a 1-0 victory at home on the way to a winning season.
