Women's Soccer Continues Road Trip at Purdue

Xavier women's soccer continues its opening weekend in the Hoosier State, traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on the Purdue Boilermakers on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1:00 p.m. Live stats and audio feed will be available at no cost, and paid stream will be available through the BTN2Go application.
The Musketeers opened the season with a 3-2 overtime win at Evansville on Friday night. After falling behind 2-0 at halftime, Kenadie Carlson and Catherine Allon scored twice in 30 seconds to erase the deficit less than five minutes into the second period to force extra time. In the 93rd minute, Maddie Tierney knocked in a blocked shot from Andie Kennard to give Xavier the win.
Purdue also opened its season on Friday evening, topping the Ohio Bobcats 3-0 at home.Junior Maddy Williams led the Boilermakers with two goals on four shots on goal. Purdue took an early lead with Williams scoring in the opening minutes of the game, and then increased its lead to two when she scored again to open the second. Sophomore Andrea Petrina scored in the final minute to bring the final margin of victory to three.
Sunday's game will be the third match up all-time between the Musketeers and the Boilermakers, with the record tied at one win apiece. XU and Purdue last faced off in 2013, when the Musketeers came away from West Lafayette with a 4-3 win.
