Xavier Blanks Eastern Michigan, 7-0, On The Road

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Xavier women's tennis team was on the road Friday afternoon against Eastern Michigan. The Musketeers took the match from the Eagles, 7-0, to improve their record to 5-2.

Doubles competition started off with Andrea Martinovska and Klara Supejova beat Amina Ismail and Sydney Liggins, 6-3. Then Sophia Abelson and Lauren Ghidotti defeated Renu Sharma and Anna Veleva, 6-1, to ties doubles play up at a match a piece. Cristina Di Lorenzo and Alex Brinker were able to pull out a victory over Ani Gogvadze and Marie Mayerova, 7-5, to secure the doubles point for Xavier.

Di Lorenzo quickly won her singles match over Gogvadze, 6-4, 6-0, to earn another point for Xavier. Abelson followed beating Sharma, 6-1, 6-2. Liggins bounced back from losing in doubles to beat Supejova, 6-4, 6-2, securing the match for the Musketeers.

Ismail, Ghidotti and Brinker all closed out their matches in true Musketeer fashion to closeout Eastern Michigan.

The team remains on the road when they play No. 69 Michigan State at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14.
