Women’s Tennis Goes Closes Weekend With a 6-1 Win Over Miami (Ohio)

HAMILTON, Ohio – The women's tennis team defeated Miami (Ohio), 6-1, to go undefeated on the weekend. The team's record improves to 4-2 for the season.
"We went out there and took care of business, said assistant coach John Allare. "It's a good win for us as a program, especially beating Miami two years in a row, and we are starting to expect it.
"We came out strong in doubles and used that momentum to jump out to early leads in singles and hung on to win a lot of those matches.
"Lauren played her best match of the year, Sydney took care of her match quickly and Cristina clinched the match in pretty short order.
"Winning four points so quickly really took the pressure off the other girls and we got some much needed wins for our confidence."
In doubles, Alex Brinker and Cristina Di Lorenzo beat Anzhelika Shapovalova and Hannah Shteyn in true Musketeer fashion, 6-1, while Amina Ismail and Sydney Liggins followed beating Nelli Ponomareva and Anastasiia Vasiukhina, 6-4.
Lauren Ghidotti only dropped one match in her win over Emily Struble, 6-0, 6-1. Liggins followed by beating Shapovalova in the same fashion, 6-1, 6-0.
Cristina Di Lorenzo defeated Shteyn, 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 2 singles position earning the final point to clinch the match for the Musketeers.
