Swimming Places 23 on All-BIG EAST Team

12 men, 11 women honored by the conference

NEW YORK – Coming off last week's strong performance at the BIG EAST Championship, the Xavier swim program had 23 members earn All-BIG EAST Team honors, the conference announced today. After winning a third-straight championship, the men placed 12 honorees on this year's team, while the women had 11 honored after picking up a third place finish.

On the men's side, Knox Hitt earned All-BIG EAST honors in seven events, including the 100 fly in which he was the champion after setting set a new school record, and a NCAA B-Cut qualifying time, in the preliminary heat.

Luke Johanns earned the honors in six events, including the 50 free where he took first place for the third-straight year, setting an NCAA B-cut time, and a school record, in the process.

Also honored from the men's team were Chase Baldwin, Erik Biernat, Matthew Dyer, Nick Foster, Enrique Hernandez, Sam Johanns, Michael Pettinichi, Nathan Runyon, Rodrigo Suriano and Alex Wolfred.

On the women's side Paxtyn Drew earned all-conference honors for six events, including the 100 back and 200 back where she set a pair of NCAA B-cut times during the championships.

Caroline Gaertner earned All-Conference honors for five events, including her runner-up finish in the 100 back in her first BIG EAST Championships.

Also honored from the women's team were Claire Brolsma, Laura Dicus, Haley Dresner, Taylor Jach, Katie Kerr, Molly Kroeger, Mackenna Rife, Becca Titterton and Ashley Whiteley.
