Shane Crutchfield earns all-conference honors for fourth straight season
NEW YORK – Senior Shane Crutchfield and sophomore Hanna Lee of Xavier women's golf were both named First Team All-BIG EAST on Thursday.Â
This year, the conference named a first and second team prior to the BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship Presented by the Jeep Brand from April 22-24 at Callawassie Island, S.C.
The selections were made by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Lee was recognized for the first time in her career after leading the Musketeers with a stroke average of 76.08 in 24 rounds. One of six players in the conference with a win this season, Lee has posted four top-10 finishes including her medalist performance at the Rio Verde Invitational from Feb. 26-28. A Cincinnati, Ohio native, Lee's season low round of 69 is tied for second in the BIG EAST.Â
Crutchfield makes her fourth appearance on an all-conference team with the honor, including her third All-BIG EAST nomination. As a freshman, the St. Petersburg, Fla. native was named All-CAA and the CAA Rookie of the Year in XU's final season in the league.Â
Crutchfield is second on XU and third in the conference with a stroke average of 76.33 in 27 rounds. Her five top-10 finishes lead Xavier and her season low round of 69 was also tied for second in the league.
Xavier and Georgetown were the only schools in the league with multiple players named to the first team. Georgetown (3), Xavier (2) and Seton Hall (2) were the only schools with multiple selections across both teams.Â
