Seventh-straight year men’s and women’s team honored
CINCINNATI – The Xavier swim program collected a number of academic accolades to close out the 2015-16 season, with the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) honoring both the men's and women's teams as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for the seventh-straight season. Senior Luke Johanns earned individual accolades as well, closing out his Xavier University career by earning Scholar All-America Honorable Mention.
This is eighth time overall the men's and women's program closed out the school year by picking up the honor of CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, including the last seven years in addition to earning the honor during the 2005-06 academic year. To earn the recognition, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester.
Xavier's men, who collected a third-straight BIG EAST Championship last February, posted a cumulative GPA of 3.04 for the Spring 2016 semester.
The Musketeer women posted a 3.50 cumulative GPA, which stands in the top-40 among all Division I programs. The Xavier women finished third at the BIG EAST Championship.

To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team as an individual, swimmers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard.

The native of Eagan, Minn. finished his Xavier career as one of the most prolific swimmers in XU history, winning seven individual conference championships and 10 relay championships as a freestyle sprinter, earning All-Conference honors from the BIG EAST for 17 different events during his time at Xavier.
Johanns holds a pair of individual school records, in the 50 free as well as the 100 free (44.40).
Johanns, who received a degree in Life Sciences for Business in May, also collected a number of accolades for his academic performance during his time as Musketeer, earning a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in both years Xavier has competed in the conference, with the 2015-16 academic year's honors yet to be announced.
In addition to their achievements in the pool and in the classroom, the Xavier swimming program was recognized among its peers for its work in the community. During the NCAA Team Works Competition last Fall, Xavier's men's and women's swimming programs rated as the top teams in their sports for total hours volunteered in the community, helping Xavier Athletics finish fourth overall and third in NCAA DI for total hours and participation rate.
